Spring at Mt Mulligan Lodge

Stay in an Outback Tent at Mt Mulligan Lodge

Spring is one of the most captivating seasons at Mt Mulligan Lodge.

The days are warm and dry, the evenings are crisp and clear, and the country around Ngarrabullgan, also known as Mount Mulligan, feels alive with colour and movement. Native grasses and blooms emerge across the landscape, wattles perfume the air and the station reveals something new each day.

It is an ideal time to get out and explore. Take an ATV adventure through the rugged surrounds, hike through ancient country, or uncover the stories of the region’s gold and coal-rush past. For a slower pace, paddle across the weir, cast a line or find a quiet spot to take in the remarkable scale of the escarpment.

Spring also brings wonderful opportunities for wildlife encounters. Mornings and late afternoons are among the best times to keep an eye out for the elusive platypus around the water. Lake Geraldine is also an unexpectedly rewarding place for birdwatching, particularly when rainbow bee-eaters are diving and darting above the water in search of prey.

As the day draws to a close, the landscape changes once again. The escarpment catches the last light and glows in shades of red and gold, while the open sky slowly gives way to a canopy of stars. It is the kind of evening that encourages you to stay a little longer outside, breathe in the stillness and let the day settle around you.

Back at the Lodge, spring is also a time to enjoy the ease of the outback at a gentler pace. Long lunches, relaxed afternoons and evenings shared over dinner offer a balance to days spent exploring. There is no need to rush, only the freedom to choose how each day unfolds.

Whether it is your first visit or a return to a place you already know and love, spring offers a beautiful way to experience Mt Mulligan: warm, open, full of life and unmistakably outback.
