Menus are tailored to individual tastes, and like a true outback-pastoral cattle station, the cuisine is hearty, nourishing and plentiful, but the beautifully presented dishes are also refined and indulgent. Lunch is served family style, and dinner is a four-course degustation.

Yes WiFi is available in the main pavilion and in guest rooms. Mobile reception can be limited and depends on your provider. Weather conditions can impact coverage and an outage is possible during your stay.
A scheduled Signature Outback Experience is included each day of your stay. Daily Outback Signature Experiences will be confirmed on your arrival with a personalised itinerary however there are a range of different Bespoke Experiences on offer which can be pre-arranged prior to your arrival. These range from a Jarramali Rock Art and scenic helicopter tour to guided nature walks and hikes, ATV tours and even a Junior Rangers Tours tailored for children. The first afternoon thunderstorms approach in December with the coming of the wet season, spectacular displays of rain clouds burst from the sky and the land becomes rich and green within days. Migratory birds arrive and wildlife flourishes. The lodge has a routine from late January to early March each year for scheduled maintenance.
Autumn brings comfortable temperatures day and night with clear skies offering ideal conditions for stargazing. The pure clarity and scale of the night skies from the northern outback is breathtaking.
Winter days are warm and dry with low humidity, with day temperatures hovering between 22-30 °C.
The warm and dry days in spring make this season the ideal time to immerse yourself in the region’s rich gold and coal rush history or simply soak up the pristine surroundings and tranquil atmosphere with sunset drinks overlooking Mount Mulligan as it glows red in the evening sun.

Check in to your room is from 2pm however if you arrive earlier you’re welcome to use our guest facilities until your room is ready for check-in.

The lodge is located 160 kilometers northwest of Cairns in North Queensland. Mount Mulligan is known as Ngarrabullgan in Aboriginal culture which is a sacred ‘Dreaming’ place and features in the creation stories and beliefs of Aboriginal groups for hundreds of kilometres in the surrounding area.
There are four pavilions housing 10 suites accommodating up to a maximum of 20 guests.
The pavilions are made for flexibility: the Outback Retreat or slightly larger Outback Room is perfect for those travelling individually or as a duo, while the Outback Suite, with its adjoining lounge room, is ideal for those looking for additional space to unwind. The lounge is spacious, with a cosy wood-burning fire and a private deck.
The Outback Pavilion is the ultimate getaway for families and groups, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a communal lounge.

The Outback Tents are situated just a short ten-minute walk, or five-minute electric buggy drive from the Main Pavilion.
The safari-style tents sit on raised timber platforms and are crafted using solely sustainable materials including the highest-grade canvas available, making them 100% weatherproof.
There is a total of four Outback Tents one of which is a Outback Family Tent which can accommodate two adults and two children.
As we are a boutique lodge with only 14 rooms, we highly recommend booking as far in advance as possible, particularly during peak periods like Australian school holidays, public holidays and the festive or Easter period. We accept individual bookings 18 months in advance and group bookings on a request basis, further in advance.

We require a two night minimum stay but reccommend a minimum of three to four nights to truly immerse yourself in our destination. Should you be short on time please speak to our team for a personalised itinerary as we can arrange private helicopter charters for earlier or later departures that allow you to maximise your experience.
Mt Mulligan Lodge is located in the Atherton Tablelands, 160km north-west of Cairns. Access to Mt Mulligan Lodge is via a 35 minute helicopter or aircraft transfer from Cairns, or can be accessed by road, a 2.5 to 3 hour 4WD adventure. Journey time depends on where you are travelling from. Most guests travel to us via Cairns where there is a domestic and international airport. Mt Mulligan Lodge is via a 35 minute helicopter or aircraft transfer from Cairns Airport where transfers depart from General Aviation. Or Mt Mulligan Lodge can be accessed by road, a 2.5 to 3 hour 4WD adventure from Cairns.
